Medical Conditions or Pre-existing Injuries
We ask you to declare whether you have medical conditions or pre-existing injuries to ensure your health and safety during the event. If you do have a medical condition or pre-existing injuries, you don’t have to tell us what that is. You do need to tells us what you can, or cannot do, as a result of your condition or injury. This allows us to allocate you to jobs and tasks you can complete safely.
Working with Children Checks (WWCC)
It is not essential to have a Working with Children Check to volunteer, but it is preferred. Free volunteer WWCC are available and can be applied through the Service Victoria website (https://www.vic.gov.au/working-with-children-check)
Volunteer Lead Roles
There are a limited number of Volunteer Lead roles. Volunteers with prior experience in event or volunteer coordination may be invited to take on a Lead Volunteer role. These volunteers provide guidance and support to small teams, assist with managing volunteer rotations, and act as a point of contact for the Volunteer Coordinator. Lead Volunteer positions are appointed based on demonstrated experience and reliability in similar roles.
Volunteer Availability
The minimum volunteer shift is a half day. While we prefer you to volunteer for a full day, we know this is not always possible. A half day shift is generally considered 4 hours.
We ask that you select your available days, choosing the option that indicates your availability. For example, ‘Half Day – Morning Start’ assumes you will be available between 8-8.30am. ‘Half Day – Afternoon Start’ indicates you will be available between 12-1pm.
Volunteer Preferences
We aim to give our volunteers roles and tasks that they will enjoy volunteering in, but this is not always possible. This is dependent on the number of volunteers we have, rotations to ensure our volunteers have appropriate breaks, etc.
