Brickvention Volunteer Position Description
Role Title: Brickvention Event Volunteer
Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator
Location: Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton
Dates of Involvement: 15 – 18 January 2026
Commitment: Minimum one full or half-day shift during the event
Status: Volunteer / Unpaid
Purpose of the Role
Brickvention is Australia’s largest Fan LEGO Event, organised and run by volunteers. It is held at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton annually in January.
Brickvention volunteers play an essential role in creating an enjoyable and safe experience for all visitors, exhibitors, and fellow volunteers. Volunteers help set up and pack up after the event, manage crowds, assist attendees, and ensure the event runs smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with bump in and bump out set up and packdown
- Welcome and assist visitors with general enquiries and directions
- Support crowd flow and queue management in exhibition areas
- Assist with ticket scanning and entry checks
- Help with Brickvention merchandise shop sales
- Provide information to attendees about event activities and displays
- Assist exhibitors and staff as needed
- Monitor public areas and report any issues or hazards to supervisors
- Uphold the Brickvention Code of Conduct and represent the event positively
Skills and Attributes
- Friendly and approachable manner
- Reliable and punctual
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and helpful in busy or crowded environments
- Comfortable working as part of a team
- Basic numeracy and cash-handling skills (for merchandise roles)
Training and Support
- Pre-event briefing and role-specific training provided
- Onsite supervision by Lead Volunteer and the Volunteer Coordinator
- Access to volunteer rest areas, refreshments, and support throughout your shift
Lead Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers with prior experience in event or volunteer coordination may be invited to take on a Lead Volunteer role. These volunteers provide guidance and support to small teams, assist with managing volunteer rotations, and act as a point of contact for the Volunteer Coordinator. Lead Volunteer positions are appointed based on demonstrated experience and reliability in similar roles.

Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- Ability to stand or walk as some roles may require standing or walking for extended periods
- Willingness to follow event health and safety procedures
- Commitment to attend the allocated shifts and training sessions
