“Inspiring, Incredible, Monumental” – An Interview with Brickvention 2026 Exhibitor, Eve Sellars

As Brickvention prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2026, we’re shining a spotlight on some of the remarkable builders who bring the event to life. This week, we sat down with artist and LEGO® creator Eve Sellars (known to many online as greeble.girl) and a proud member of MUGs (Melbourne LEGO User Group).

Eve’s Brickvention story is one of discovery, creativity and connection, and her journey shows exactly why this event continues to inspire builders and visitors alike.

When was your first Brickvention, and what do you remember most about it?

Eve: My first BV was as an attendee in 2024. I was completely overwhelmed by the skill of the builders and had no idea this world existed. Suffice it to say, I was hooked from that day onwards!

For many AFOLs, that first step into the Royal Exhibition Building is unforgettable, a moment where imagination becomes tangible. For Eve, it was the spark that ignited a whole new creative chapter.

What made you want to come to Brickvention in the first place?

Eve: I was at a LEGO store filling a couple of boxes at the Pick-a-Brick wall and I could hear other AFOLs talking about this thing called “Brickvention”. A quick google search resulted in me immediately buying tickets, and I was so excited!

Sometimes the best adventures start with eavesdropping at the Pick-a-Brick wall.

What’s your favourite Brickvention memory?

Eve: Getting a selfie with Brickman in 2024! I totally embarrassed myself and fangirled him big time haha. But that photo brings back really awesome memories. Brickman was lovely too!

It was a moment many AFOLs dream of, meeting someone whose work has inspired you. For Eve, that selfie still brings a smile every time she looks at it.

What keeps you coming back each year?

Eve: The looks of delight on children’s faces!

It is the magic of seeing young builders light up, a reminder of why Brickvention exists in the first place.

What was your first MOC at Brickvention, and how did people react to it?

Eve: Neo Maximus. It was hugely popular and I was proud as punch all weekend. I delighted in talking to people both young and old about the process, inspiration, logistics and general LEGO stuff.

For an artist who blends colour, character and meticulous design, Neo Maximus was the perfect debut and clearly made an impact.

What does the Brickvention community mean to you?

Eve: It’s such a great way to meet AFOLs from all over Australia and even overseas. We are all united by the magic of little plastic bricks, it’s remarkable when you think about it!

At its heart, Brickvention has always been about community, a sprawling, joy-filled mosaic of shared passion and creativity.

Have you made lasting friendships or connections through Brickvention?

Eve: Absolutely! My LEGO friends are like a second family and I follow so many people’s incredible stories on social media. The skill of some people is just amazing and I am constantly in awe of their talent and imagination. LEGO people are amazing – and many have become close friends.

The event does not end when the doors close. The friendships, collaborations and inspiration ripple far beyond the weekend.

What’s something most people don’t see or realise about what goes on behind the scenes?

Eve: Exhibiting your LEGO can be a monomental task. From dissamebly at home, putting your LEGO into tubs or boxes, to packing the car, driving ridiculously carefully, unpacking at the venue and re-assembly. It’s dozens of hours of work and must be done so carefully so your build doesn’t break.

Behind every breathtaking display is a true labour of love, and often a very slow, very careful drive to Carlton.

What does 20 years of Brickvention mean to you personally?

Eve: I wish I’d discovered it sooner!!

A sentiment echoed by many new exhibitors who find themselves suddenly and joyfully part of something big.

If you could describe Brickvention in three words, what would they be?

Eve: Inspiring, incredible, monumental!

We couldn’t agree more.

As Brickvention enters its 20th year, builders like Eve remind us why this community continues to grow, evolve and amaze. Her passion, creativity and openness, along with her contributions as a member of MUGs, embody the spirit of Brickvention.

We can’t wait to see what she brings to the 2026 exhibition floor.
